Small details. Better daily use.
Handles, hinges and drawer fittings deserve a place in the brief. Here is how to make those small decisions clearer.
01 Begin with the movement.
Think about which cabinet doors and drawers will be opened most often. Note who will use them and how much space is available around the furniture. These details help frame a useful conversation about fittings.
For a kitchen, consider the relationship between drawers, appliances and corner cabinets. For a wardrobe, consider access to hanging areas and internal storage. A fitting should be selected for the agreed door or drawer construction.
02 Name the hardware in the specification.
Terms such as soft-close or concealed describe a function or appearance, but do not identify the complete fitting. Ask which model is proposed, what components are included and whether the selected option suits the cabinet dimensions.
KLDS can discuss hardware options alongside your furniture design. Record the agreed handles, hinges and drawer fittings in the approval package, so the quotation and drawings refer to the same selection.
03 Check the visible details.
Handle colour, profile and position influence the overall appearance of a cabinet. Compare them with the door finish and with other metal details in the room. If the project uses several cabinet types, decide whether their handles should match.
Request a sample or a clear reference when the look and feel are important. Also review door clearances and handle positions in the drawing, particularly beside walls or adjacent units.
04 Plan for assembly and care.
Confirm how fittings will be supplied, identified and installed. For furniture shipped in components, ask how the hardware is packed and matched to the relevant cabinet. Keep the approved product information for future maintenance enquiries.
Explore the KLDS product range and send us your hardware requirements . The final selection should be confirmed against the specific furniture order.
